Terms of Service

1. Who We Are and Acceptance of Terms

Glossa (readglossa.com) is provided by Sensus Software AS, organisation number 832 877 352, Bergen, Norway ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Glossa, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

Glossa is a language-learning platform that lets you read books in a foreign language — your own uploads or public-domain titles from our catalog — with word-by-word translations, vocabulary tools, text-to-speech, guided lessons, and practice games. Translations and other AI-generated content are produced automatically and may contain errors; they are a learning aid, not a certified translation.

3. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity on your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Glossa. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to make a purchase.
• One account per person; accounts may not be shared or transferred.

4. Plans and Pricing

• Free — up to 2 books in your library and 10 distinct pages of reading, with every feature included.
• Pro — removes the book and page limits (a fair-use ceiling of 100 books applies to prevent abuse). Available as:
  • an annual subscription at $119.88 per year (equivalent to $9.99 per month), billed once a year;
  • a monthly subscription at $14.99 per month; or
  • a 7-day pass at $4.99, charged once.
• Prices are in US dollars. Applicable taxes such as VAT are calculated and shown at checkout. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay.
• We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change affects an existing subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

5. Billing, Renewal, and Cancellation

• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) and your payment method is charged unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• You can cancel a subscription at any time from Account settings via the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• The 7-day pass does not renew. It ends automatically 7 days after purchase and there is nothing to cancel. Buying another pass extends your access by 7 days.
• If a renewal payment fails, you keep Pro for a grace period of 3 days while you update your payment method, after which your account returns to the free plan.
• Deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately.

6. Refunds

• Annual subscriptions — refundable in full if you ask within 30 days of the charge, including the first charge and each yearly renewal.
• Monthly subscriptions and 7-day passes — if something went wrong, contact us within 7 days of the charge and we will review your request in good faith.
• To request a refund, email [email protected] from the email address on your account. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days.
• Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content you do not have the right to use (you are responsible for the books you upload)
• Upload unlawful, harmful, or abusive content, or post it on the feedback board
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, access controls, or security measures
• Scrape the service, or access it with bots or automated tools other than a normal browser
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Resell or redistribute translations or other content generated by the service

8. Content and Intellectual Property

• You retain ownership of books you upload. You give us a limited licence to store and process them solely to provide the service to you. Uploaded books are private to your account.
• Translations, summaries, and lessons generated by Glossa are provided for your personal learning use only.
• The Glossa name, logo, and software are the intellectual property of Sensus Software AS.
• If you believe content on Glossa infringes your rights, email [email protected] and we will act promptly.

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep Glossa available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice. If we discontinue Glossa entirely, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid plan.

10. Limitation of Liability

Glossa is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you seriously or repeatedly violate these terms. Where we terminate a paid plan without such cause, we will refund the unused portion. You may delete your account at any time from Account settings.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring a claim in its courts. Consumers in Norway can also get free help resolving a dispute from the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet).
